This incredible technique uses minimally invasive dentistry and is one of our most convenient treatments here at Glenfield Dental.
Bonding, often referred to as ‘composite bonding’ or ‘cosmetic bonding’, provides instant results and can be used to treat the following issues:
- Chipped or broken teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Discoloured or stained teeth
- Crooked or uneven teeth
- Teeth with noticeable gaps between them
- We also use bonding to prevent temperature sensitivity if the root of the tooth has been exposed as a result of gum recession
The Bonding Procedure
The bonding procedure can be carried out in one appointment. We apply a tooth-coloured resin to restore, build up or reshape teeth using a special layering technique.
During the procedure we roughen the tooth surface to allow the resin to bond to it easily, before moulding the resin and shaping it to fit the tooth. Once the resin is on the tooth we will harden it using an ultraviolet light. The final step in the procedure is to sculpt, shape and polish the tooth so that it matches the rest, providing a smooth and even finish.
How long does bonding last?
Bonding will last for many years providing you maintain an excellent level of oral hygiene and visit our excellent hygienists regularly. An alternative to bonding is a porcelain veneer and your dentist will discuss the best option with you.
